Responsibilities
of the Engineer:
1. Support land and development teams during feasibility studies, contributing engineering input and preparing viability information
2. Appoint and manage external engineering, utilities and technical consultants, agreeing scope, fees and programme requirements
3. Coordinate engineering design information and ensure timely flow of data in line with programme deadlines and standards
4. Assist in planning processes by identifying technical risks, supporting conditions discharge and reviewing regulatory requirements
5. Provide technical guidance on highways, drainage, sewers, utilities and ground strategies, ensuring commercial and regulatory requirements are met
6. Support the preparation of tender documentation and assist in setting up management companies where applicable
7. Manage the progression of roads, sewers and utilities through to adoption with local authorities and statutory providers
8. Attend site regularly, offering engineering support and leading technical discussions related to infrastructure delivery
9. Interact with internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and warranty provider requirements
Requirements of the Engineer:
10. Degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Technical Design or related discipline
11. Experience within residential housebuilding or civil engineering roles
12. Strong knowledge of highways, drainage, utilities, groundworks and relevant design standards (e.g. Sewers for Adoption, Building Regs, British Standards)
13. Working proficiency in AutoCAD
14. Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
15. Commercial awareness and understanding of planning and technical processes
16. Knowledge of NHBC/LABC/SBD requirements
17. Full UK driving licence
