Mitie & Custody Police Services in association with Leicestershire Police, deliver Sexual Assault Referral Centre Services (SARC) to adults across Leicester City, Leicestershire and Rutland.
We have an exciting opportunity for Nurses and/or Midwives with significant and relevant experience in either Forensic Medicine or a specialism such as Sexual Health, Genitourinary Medicine, General Practice or Obstetrics & Gynaecology to join our team.
Salary: on call retainer (£) per 12-hour shift + call out fee per case (£)
Shift times: 08.00-20.00 or 20.00-08.00

Main duties of the job
As Sexual Assault Examiner you will be responsible for the provision of sexual offence examinations at the sexual assault referral centre (SARC) or other location as necessary.
You will provide on-call availability (minimum 2 shifts per month), contributing to the daytime, night-time, and weekend rotas (08.00-20.00 and 20.00-08.00) and will be available to attend the SARC and on occasion at other off-site locations within an agreed time of 90 minutes.
The successful post holders will be managed by the Clinical Lead and will be given training and support in the role and will work collaboratively with Crisis Worker's and Police Officers to support the client.
Objectives and responsibilities
Our SARC services are commissioned to provide forensic, medical and aftercare services to victims of rape and sexual assault who either self-refer or are referred via the police or other agencies. The main responsibility of the post-holder will be to carry out forensic medical examinations of adults, in accordance with FFLM and NMC guidelines, in a trauma informed manner which minimises further distress. The examination of victims of sexual assault and rape includes the assessment of risk of pregnancy, Sexually Transmitted Infections/Blood-borne Viruses and administering emergency contraception, HIV prophylaxis (PEPSE), Hepatitis B vaccination as required, in addition to Mental Health and suicide risk assessments and safeguarding.
You will also be expected to participate in mandatory training, peer review and clinical supervision.
Essential:
1. Have previously held a position and had specialist training in one or more of the following disciplines: Genito-urinary medicine; Obstetrics & Gynaecology; Paediatrics; Reproductive & Sexual Health, General Practice. Consideration will also be given to staff who have been working in an environment where they have acquired experience of forensic practice.
2. Full membership of the NMC with no restrictions on practice (Registered Adult Nurse and/or Midwife)
3. Minimum 5 years post registration experience
4. Have been continuously resident in the UK for at least 36 months.
5. A full UK driving licence.
6. Competent in oral and written English.
7. Full knowledge and understanding of:
8. Guidance on sexual offence examinations provided by the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine (FFLM)
9. Competent in providing the following services:
10. First aid for minor injuries.
11. Emergency contraception.
12. Pregnancy testing.
13. Provision or referral for Hepatitis B immunoglobulin and/or vaccination.
14. Provision of post-exposure HIV prophylaxis.
15. Demonstrable core knowledge of medicine and chronic diseases.
16. Be able to provide evidence of current Hepatitis B status.
Desirable:
17. Postgraduate qualification in Forensic and Legal Medicine or working towards a post graduate qualification in Sexual Offences Medicine, either the Licentiate of the FFLM or ASET.
