Overview
Financial Accountant & Compliance Manager is a role responsible for owning statutory reporting, leading financial compliance, coordinating audits, and ensuring tax and reporting obligations are met across the Majestic Wine Group.

The Role
As a Financial Accountant & Compliance Manager you will own the statutory reporting process for the Majestic Wine Group, coordinate the annual audit, and ensure compliance with financial reporting obligations (Corporation Tax, VAT, PSA and other taxes and statistical reporting).
You will work with the management accounting team on technical accounting matters (e.g., IFRS16) and coordinate the audit program with external advisors to ensure timely compliance across Group companies.
Job Specifics
* Contract Type: Permanent
* Location: Watford
Minimum of 3 days a week in locations across the Majestic Wine Group. We offer hybrid working for the remaining 2 days.
Key Responsibilities
* Be the technical accounting expert on questions and treatments in company records.
* Prepare annual financial statements for individual entities and the Consolidated Group, with supporting documentation for the Audit Committee.
* Oversee the audit program, coordinate testing between Group auditors and management accounting teams, support auditors with financial audits, and ensure deadlines are met.
* Ensure audit adjustments are accurately processed in company records.
* Prepare Group Consolidations and year-end requirements such as impairment reviews and going concern justifications.
* Manage group leases within Innervision software, ensure IFRS 16 compliance, and quarterly updates reviewed for accuracy.
* Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and support wider team reconciliations to meet deadlines.
* Own Majestic Accounting Policies; ensure policies are documented, complete, and in line with accounting standards.
* Coordinate with Tax advisors, oversee full disclosure and information provision, review submissions, and ensure tax compliance for group entities; supervise VAT returns, PSA submissions, and other tax filings.
* Oversee and coordinate Office for National Statistics returns (preparation where required).
* Perform any other activities required to complete the role.
Knowledge & Skills Required
* ACCA/ACA qualified.
* Experience in preparing statutory accounts with full disclosure notes and complete audit files including balance sheet reconciliations.
* Strong knowledge of accounting standards and IFRS.
* Advanced Excel skills.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently at all levels of the business and with external stakeholders.
* High attention to detail and ability to review work to a high standard.
* Highly organised and self-motivated with proven prioritisation ability.
