The Transport for London (TfL) Power Engineering Team plays a pivotal role in maintaining, renewing, upgrading, and extending the power systems that support London Underground, DLR, Trams, London Overground, and the Elizabeth Line. As a DC Traction Power Engineer, you will contribute to shaping the future of TfL’s power networks.

Key Responsibilities
* Undertake engineering design activities for DC traction power systems.
* Provide technical advice as a trusted source of engineering expertise.
* Participate in design reviews and support the construction of projects.
Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* BEng/MEng in a relevant engineering discipline, or HND with relevant work experience.
* Proven experience assessing and upgrading power systems to accommodate increased load demand using sound engineering principles.
* Experience in preparing both concept and detailed designs for power systems.
* Comprehensive understanding of power assets and their interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
* Working knowledge of legislation, national and international standards relevant to power engineering.
* Proficiency in analysing and evaluating data using software such as Microsoft Excel.
* Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with a variety of audiences.
* Ability to prepare clear, concise and structured technical reports.
Desirable
* Chartered Engineer or working towards CEng status.
* Experience working on London Underground or Network Rail infrastructure projects.
* Practical experience in the design and installation of DC traction power plant and/or Electrical Track Equipment (ETE).
* Experience of Power system modelling tools (e.g., MTS, Neplan, ERACs, ETap).
* Knowledge of DC traction protection and earthing & bonding arrangements.
* Understanding of Operations and Maintenance requirements for DC traction power systems.
* Awareness of engineering safety management and its application within the railway environment.
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. MicroStation, AutoCAD) for production of engineering drawings.
