About Epinal Way Care Centre
Epinal Way Care Centre is a specialist service that supports adults with a range of complex needs, including neurodisabilities, communication challenges, and acquired brain injuries. Our team works collaboratively to deliver person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence and meaningful outcomes.
About the Role
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to support and enhance the delivery of speech and language therapy interventions for our service users. You will work under the guidance of a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, delivering therapy plans, setting up equipment, recording progress, and supporting individuals with communication and swallowing needs.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, helping create a safe, positive and supportive environment. Your day-to-day will include:
1. Delivering therapy sessions set by the Speech and Language Therapist
2. Observing and reporting on progress, changes, or concerns
3. Supporting with the use, maintenance and cleaning of therapy equipment
4. Recording interactions and maintaining accurate, confidential notes
5. Assisting with admin tasks to keep the therapy service running smoothly
6. Encouraging service users to engage in therapy and reach their goals
7. The role requires weekend working with shifts being 8.30am - 4.30pm
About You
This role would suit someone with experience in health or social care, ideally with NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, who is looking to develop a career in therapy or specialist care. You don’t need to be qualified in speech and language therapy, but you do need to be organised, reliable and motivated to learn.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
8. Knowledge and experience of working in a healthcare setting, to at least NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
9. An understanding of speech and language therapy procedures, including equipment, techniques, and administrative processes, gained through formal training or a competency-based framework.
10. A positive approach to teamwork, with a willingness to learn and take part in ongoing personal development.
11. A commitment to working towards completion of the RCSLT (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists) clinical competencies for assistants.
12. A willingness to complete in-house competencies and CPD activities
Experience supporting people with communication difficulties is an advantage, as is any knowledge of therapy equipment or techniques.
