We are looking for highly innovative candidates to join our shipping analysis department in London. The department delivers market data, fundamentals analysis, and forecasts to support and grow our shipping and commodities clients globally, and is part of the wider Commodities Research & Forecasts team.
Traders and analysts worldwide rely on Thomson Reuters' commodities software to make crucial and timely trading decisions within energy, metals, and agriculture markets. The analysis team aims to provide insight into market dynamics so that our clients can understand what is driving the market, as well as saving them time and effort.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead initiatives to modernize and streamline data systems/processes, including transitioning to a new cloud-based platform.
2. Work with cloud-based technology to address shipping business requirements.
3. Enforce and establish standards, policies, and best practices for freight modelling, ensuring compliance with data governance, regulatory requirements, and metadata management.
Required Skills/Experience
1. Experience designing, building, and maintaining complex Python-based models in the commodity market domain.
2. Experience setting up models and data flows in cloud-based environments like AWS or Azure.
3. Knowledge of related technologies such as Databricks and Spark.
4. Experience with geospatial algorithms and machine learning.
Qualifications
1. Higher education with a Master's degree in Data Science, Engineering, Maths, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
2. 5+ years of experience in data modelling or related disciplines, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
