STOP! Come and support your local community by joining Essex County Council's School Crossing Patrol Team as a School Crossing Patrol Officer at Ivy Chimneys Primary School. Support schools once in the morning and once in the afternoon, ensuring the safety of all pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and its surrounding locations. We are looking for a punctual and reliable individual, who is approachable and enjoys engaging with the public. This position is for approximately 7.5 hours per week, with a holiday pay element included. You will need to be available to work during the 39 weeks of the academic year, for 45 minutes in the morning between 08:00 - 09:00 and 45 minutes in the afternoon between 14:45 - 15:45, depending on site requirements. Uniform, equipment, and training will be provided.
Responsibilities:
1. Have regard for the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility-impaired individuals using the crossing.
2. Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
3. Assess risks at the crossing site regularly, identify problems, and report issues to your supervisor.
4. Assist in preparing reports on accidents, failure to stop incidents, and other occurrences at the crossing.
5. Maintain all uniform and equipment in good condition and request replacements when needed.
6. Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic, ensuring the road is clear of pedestrians before allowing crossing.
