An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Liaison Psychiatry Service. You will have a real passion for mental health care & be able to work in a challenging & dynamic environment.

As a Specialist Psychiatric Nurse you will be committed to providing high quality acute assessment in the Emergency Department & provide ongoing care & expertise to any patient admitted to our hospital with co-morbid psychiatric care needs. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from RMNs with experience of providing therapies, such as CBT or EMDR.

Therefore, we are seeking a confident & accomplished practitioner to join our accredited service & join the shared vision of 'high quality care for all'.

The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of experience of acute (Crisis/Liaison) assessment at Band 6 level or above.

This is a full-time (1.00 wte) permanent post.

Your main duties include seeing, assessing & treating patients that are attending acute services, primarily in the Emergency Department. This may include delivering a range of nursing & psychosocial interventions to individual patients & their families, as appropriate. You are likely to be assisting & supporting general hospital colleagues in making decisions about treatment & care in complex situations.

You will be working within a team but often as an autonomous clinical specialist within the general hospital. Your role also requires consultation, liaison & teaching general hospital staff at all levels.

The Service runs from 0700-2100hrs, 7days a week & you will be required to work shifts covering evenings & weekends for this. The Service may extend to provide 24hr care, with possible Commissioning changes.

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, bringing together a combined workforce of over 13,000 staff & over 100 different clinical services across 10 different sites, serving a core population of more than 500,000 people across South West England. UHBW has been rated by the CQC as ‘Good’ overall & our staff are proud to deliver excellent care to the people of Bristol, Weston & beyond. As a forward- thinking multi-award winning Trust & a digital exemplar committed to improving patient care, our world-leading research and innovations are having a positive local and global impact. Our hospitals are spread across Bristol and Weston, join us & you can enjoy the very best of both worlds; city living within a stone’s throw of the countryside or beside the seaside, both with easy access to all that the South West has to offer. UHBW is committed to safeguarding & promoting the welfare of children, young people & vulnerable adults. As an equal opportunities employer actively working towards a diverse workforce we aim to recruit & retain a workforce which represents the rich diversity of the local population at all levels & are committed to designing our services around the needs of individual patients & those around them. Anonymous information will be used from your application in order to ensure we’re meeting our pledge.
