1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEND (Autism Support) Location: South Birmingham Role: Full-time, Long-term ️ Start Date: Immediate Starts Available We are currently seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils with moderate to complex needs, primarily Autism, in a specialist school setting in South Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people thrive both academically and emotionally. About the Role You will work closely with individual pupils, providing consistent, personalised support to help them access learning, develop communication skills, and build independence in a safe and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities: 1:1 & Small Group Support: Tailor learning activities to meet individual needs. Promote Engagement: Support pupils with communication, sensory, and behavioural needs. Build Relationships: Create a positive, trusting environment that encourages confidence and progress. Consistency & Commitment: Provide long-term stability for pupils who benefit from routine and structure. About the School Specialist provision supporting pupils with Autism and complex learning needs. Warm, inclusive, and well-resourced environment. Focus on emotional wellbeing, communication, and life skills. Supportive staff team dedicated to individual progress and development. About You Experience working with children with SEND, Autism, or complex needs is highly desirable. Qualifications such as Health & Social Care, Youth Work, Psychology, or Supporting Teaching & Learning are advantageous but not essential. Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting pupils. Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport.
