2026 Graduate Programme - Property & Buildings - Industry at WSP in the UK & Ireland. We are looking for Graduates to join our Industry teams with a flexible approach and a desire to learn within a leading Engineering and Professional Advisory services consultancy. You will work in multidisciplinary teams, contributing to both design and project delivery for a diverse client base across industrial and manufacturing sectors.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to exciting and innovative projects in industrial and energy processes.
* Work with multidisciplinary teams to plan, design, build, and operate assets; provide full life cycle support for operating facilities.
* Embed in teams and be mentored by experienced engineers; gain exposure to real-world challenges and innovative solutions.
* Participate in process design activities, technical documentation, risk assessments, and design reviews.
* Support project coordination, client meetings, site visits, and cost estimation activities.
* Develop skills in safety, sustainability, and regulatory compliance; pursue professional registration (e.g., IChemE) through structured development plans.
What You Will Be Doing by Sector
* Industry – Chemicals, Advanced Manufacturing & Pharmaceuticals/Life Sciences: Build core competencies in process design, safety, simulation, sustainability and project delivery; work on live client projects across chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and advanced manufacturing.
* Mechanical Engineering: Specify process and utilities equipment, and industrial piping systems; collaborate with internal design teams and clients; support safety in design.
Day-to-day Activities Could Include
* Process design support: developing PFDs and P&IDs; assisting with mass and energy balances; equipment sizing and specification.
* Technical documentation: design reports, datasheets, specifications under supervision.
* HAZOP, risk assessments, LOPA, design reviews; version control and document traceability.
* Software & simulation: process modelling and layout design using tools such as Aspen HYSYS, AutoCAD.
* Project coordination: collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and civil teams; attend meetings and site visits; assist in cost estimation.
* Learning & development: shadow senior engineers; training on industry codes (e.g., ASME, API, IEC); work towards chartered status (e.g., IChemE).
Graduate Development Programme
Two-year programme focused on personal and professional development, including core business and professional skills training, networking, mentoring for professional registration, and hands-on experience. Graduates can expect a graduate training pathway to chartered engineer status with opportunities in technical/design roles or project management.

* Graduation with at least a 2:2 in a relevant subject; eligibility for graduate training and professional accreditation.
* Strong application with full completion of the application form and online skill enabler assessment as part of the process.
