Locum Emergency General Surgery Consultant

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic General Surgery Locum Consultant with a specialist interest in Emergency General Surgery.

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about delivering high‑quality care and committed to shaping the future of our Emergency General Surgery and Surgical Ambulatory Care services.

The successful applicant will join our friendly and forward‑thinking General Surgery Department within the Surgery and Cancer Division at Leighton Hospital, Crewe. You will play a key role in driving positive service development, supporting clinical excellence, and contributing to an improving patient experience.

This post is offered as an 8PA locum consultant role, for a fixed term of 12 months.

Main duties of the job

This is a 12 month locum post providing an exciting opportunity to actively develop a Surgical Ambulatory Care Unit (SACU) service. The SACU is already established in its own dedicated area, however, we have funding for this post to progress and develop this essential service in support of providing the best care for our patients. The candidate will need to be dynamic and enthusiastic to drive forward this positive development.

Alongside SACU service delivery and development the post will also include some general surgical outpatient clinics and elective operating sessions. The post holder will join a team of Consultants with interests in Colorectal Surgery, Upper GI Surgery, Emergency General Surgery, General Surgery and Breast Surgery.
