About Our Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for students seeking experience in sustainability, waste management, and the environment. The placement is suitable for those studying sustainability, engineering, chemistry, or environmental science, during a placement year.
The role offers a rewarding year in industry with clear pathways for progression and career development. There may be travel involved to support projects across over 65 sites in the UK.

What You Will Be Doing
As part of the Waste & Environmental Impacts Team, you will support the business in biodiversity strategy, develop alternative markets for recycling by-products, and ensure compliance with waste management regulations. You will work on projects related to EMR’s Net Zero 2040 goals and sustainability leadership.
Other Duties Will Include
* Sampling and interpreting waste streams
* Classifying waste following hazardous waste guidance (WM3)
* Collecting and analyzing data related to Environmental & Social Governance, including CO2, energy, biodiversity, waste, and water use
* Preparing clear and concise reports
* Planning your own time and sometimes coordinating with others
About You
* Currently in 2nd or 3rd year of a STEM degree (chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science)
* Predicted 2:1 or higher in final year
* Hold a UK driving license
* Enthusiastic, proactive, and willing to conduct detailed research
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team
