The role
As a Senior Estimator, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll set the cost strategy for complex, non‑routine projects across our Marine business. You’ll choose the right estimating approaches, build robust cost models and provide the insight that underpins decision‑making for bids, tenders and delivery. Your work will help our customers protect people and assets - and will accelerate your own growth through exposure to large, high‑impact programmes in defence, aerospace and engineering.
Day‑to‑day you’ll be required to:
1. Develop the estimating plan and structure, including ground rules and assumptions.
2. Select and apply the most appropriate methodologies (bottom‑up, top‑down, comparative and parametric).
3. Build and maintain transparent cost models for bids, tenders and project controls.
4. Conduct sensitivity, risk and uncertainty analysis to inform decisions.
5. Capture lessons learned to refine norms and improve future estimates.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Senior Estimator
6. Delivery across multiple projects, products/services and lifecycle phases.
7. Estimating all project cost elements using bottom‑up, top‑down, comparative and parametric approaches.
8. Experience with diverse contract forms (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, JCT).
Qualifications for the Senior Estimator
9. Project Planning and Controls Practitioner
10. Project Fundamentals Qualification.
