About The Role Senior Project Engineer - Altrad Babcock Join Altrad Babcock as a Senior Project Engineer in Renfrew and help deliver engineering projects that support the Nuclear, Process, Power Generation, and Oil and Gas sectors. As a Senior Project Engineer, you take responsibility for the safe and effective delivery of all contract phases from initiation through to completion, ensuring all works meet quality, safety, cost, and schedule targets. Key Deliverables Manage and lead engineering projects, ensuring successful delivery to safety, quality, time, and cost criteria. Act as the client’s main point of contact for allocated projects from project initiation to close-out. Prepare tender documents, estimate work scopes at all project lifecycle stages, and identify client needs. Develop and manage supply chain partners to support complex project delivery. Create and manage project schedules, resource plans, and project reports. Provide technical support for Asset Management contracts and write clear reports, specifications, and technical documentation. Specify and deliver the quality assurance requirements for projects. Coordinate design inputs from internal teams and external contractors, identifying issues and managing design development proactively. Provide procurement support, including developing technical specifications, reviewing tenders, preparing purchase requisitions, monitoring costs and schedule, conducting workshop inspections, and expediting orders. Monitor fabrication, manage interfaces with fabricators, inspect equipment deliveries, coordinate inspection and test plans, and report progress. Apply project management skills to direct teams, monitor internal budgets, protect and improve project margins, and manage changes effectively. Maintain clear communication across multi-disciplinary engineering teams and with all project stakeholders. Implement effective risk management processes throughout the project lifecycle. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers, stakeholders, and partner organisations. Carry out occasional site work as required by the project. Key Requirements: Hold a relevant Engineering degree; a Master of Engineering qualification (or working towards one) is desirable. Bring practical experience in engineering project delivery within industries such as nuclear, process, power generation, oil and gas, or related sectors. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design and delivering projects through the full contract lifecycle. Experience supporting procurement, fabrication, commissioning, and quality assurance activities for engineering projects. Demonstrate strong project management skills, including budget and schedule control, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. Display clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop technical reports and specifications. Be able to travel and perform occasional site-based work as required. Formal project management qualification, such as APMP, is preferred but not essential. Experience in nuclear fusion projects is desirable.
