Overview
Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Power Transmission and Distribution team. The role involves working on diverse, industry-leading projects to develop innovative solutions for power transmission grid systems, client transmission and distribution installations, ensuring security of electricity supply, integrating renewable energy sources, and delivering large power infrastructure from concept to delivery. The role is permanent and reports to the Power team Principal Engineer.
Location
Locations include: Belfast, Brighton, Bristol, Croydon, Altrincham, Newcastle, York, Manchester, Newcastle Upon Tyne, York, Croydon, Belfast, London area as applicable.
Responsibilities
* Primary plant layout for HV substations
* Equipment specifications for HV plant and ancillary equipment
* Provide engineering design input to major electrical power infrastructure projects through lifecycle stages from feasibility/front end to detailed design, site construction monitoring and commissioning
* Coordinate with client project teams and internal teams (civil, structural, environmental, survey/geotechnical, transport, protection and control, CAD/BIM)
* Deliver projects in new technologies (energy storage, HVDC, smart grid, waste-to-energy, etc.)
* Provide professional services to UK and overseas clients
Candidate Specification
* Degree-qualified; ideally working towards Chartered Engineer status
* Experience in the power transmission and distribution industry
* Experience in design, delivery and supervision of HV substation solutions (110kV to 400kV)
* Experience in developing specifications for HV AIS/GIS substations and associated equipment
* Experience across all project lifecycle stages
* Experience applying regulatory and client health and safety requirements to HV plant designs
* Experience in preparing technical reports in English
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
* Experience in design of Overhead Line Systems for transmission networks
* Experience in design of HV cable systems (minimum 110kV)
* Experience in site construction and/or testing/commissioning for HV plant systems
* Experience in earthing software design (CDEGs) and protection/co-ordination software (ETAP)
* Experience in control and protection systems design
* Masters Degree
