Principal Clinical/Counselling/Health Psychologist (General Medicine)
An exciting and interesting opportunity is available for a suitably qualified Clinical, Counselling or Health psychologist to join the General Medicine Psychology team within the Clinical Health Psychology Department at Salford Royal Hospital. You will join a well-established psychology team providing assessment and care to a range of diagnoses. The post holder will be expected to offer expertise at a senior level, working with MDT meetings, teaching, and joint working with professional colleagues.
Main responsibilities
* Support the Consultant Lead Psychologist to provide senior leadership, supervision and support for the members of the general medicine psychology team.
* Triage and assess referrals from the 15 medical specialisms.
* Lead on service delivery for complex cases within the general medicine service, in collaboration with the service lead.
* Lead on several specific areas of the general medicine service as a special interest, developing links with specialist nurses, the medical team, relevant special interest groups and third‑sector agencies.
* Develop teaching for the university ClinPsyD programmes, Health psychology course and the IAPT training in these specialist areas.
* Contribute to clinical pathways and development of business cases to maintain capacity for the service.
* Provide specialist assessment and treatment recommendations for individuals accessing the general medicine health psychology service.
* Manage referrals from multiple sources, maintain outpatient clinical psychology waiting lists and take autonomous management of caseload.
* Line‑manage an assistant psychologist where needed and contribute to specialist supervision of other team members.

Requirements
* Qualifications: BSc Psychology (or equivalent) recognised by the British Psychological Society.
* British Psychological Society Accredited Doctoral Degree in Clinical, Health or Counselling Psychology.
* Further training in supervision of psychological therapies and training in 3rd wave psychological therapies.
* Accreditation as a Supervisor for Psychology and/or Psychotherapy (desirable).
* Relevant further specialist training in one or more therapy modalities.
* Training in trauma focused CBT or EMDR (desirable).
Essential knowledge, experience and skills
* Experience of working as a qualified psychologist, including substantial post‑qualification experience within a physical health setting.
* Experience of specialist psychotherapeutic assessments and treatments for severe, enduring and complex presentations and/or trauma.
* Experience of providing teaching, training and clinical supervision within a healthcare setting.
* Experience of delivering therapeutic interventions in individual and group formats.
* Experience supervising qualified psychologists and/or psychological therapists and other staff in physical health settings.
* Excellent organisational and data management skills.
Desirable
* Ability to teach and train others using a variety of complex multi‑media materials suitable for public, professional and academic settings.
* Experience in developing and delivering therapeutic interventions in various formats.
Contract and salary
Band 8b, £64,455 to £74,896 per annum. Permanent full‑time contract.
