Responsibilities
* Support both Supplier Quality Assurance and Development activities.
* Conduct on-site “customer eyes” inspections at supplier premises during key hold points in production.
* Perform final release inspections of supplier goods prior to dispatch to ensure compliance with all technical and quality requirements.
* Verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
* Maintain auditable records of inspections, releases, and non-conformances.
* Lead or assist with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
* Support the Quality team, when required, with activities such as supplier qualifications, audits, and performance monitoring to assist in developing key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence.
* Collaborate with internal teams to support product testing, documentation, and continuous improvement.
* Provide informal guidance to new team members and explain complex information in straightforward situations.
* Communicate supplier quality status to stakeholders and contribute to functional strategy.
* Regular travel within the UK and occasionally Europe is required.
* Assist with quality inspection.
Note: All candidates must be eligible to achieve the relevant security vetting level applicable to the role.
Qualifications And Skills
* Degree BSc/BEng/HND in Electrical/Electronics or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent Quality discipline or relevant experience.
* Qualified Lead Auditor for ISO9001 as a minimum, with 14001 and 45001 highly desirable.
* Previous experience in manufacturing or supplier quality roles.
* Strong understanding of quality tools and methods: APQP, PPAP, 8D, RCCA, DFMEA, PFMEA, SPC, etc.
* Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
* High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
* Confident communicator with excellent organisation and interpersonal skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Analytical mindset with proven problem-solving ability.
* Experience working with major OEMs (e.g., BAE, Rolls-Royce, MOD suppliers) is a plus.
* Familiarity with APQP / PPAP implementation and supplier development programs.
