We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist to continue the progression of ABUHB mental health pharmacy services. This role will enable you to build clinical experience, management and leadership skills.
Our MH pharmacists play an integral role as members of the multi-disciplinary team by ensuring medicines are prescribed and used in a way that is evidence based, safe and cost effective to the benefit of our patients. This post will suit a pharmacist wishing to join a welcoming working environment with a desire to further improve on their current clinical knowledge and skills. The successful candidate will be expected to influence prescribing, support safe and effective use of medicines, and continue to integrate pharmacy into the wider multidisciplinary team.
Your pharmacy base will be Nevill Hall Hospital, but much of your time will be spent on various mental health wards across the health board area. Exact working locations will be determined with the other MH pharmacists to balance best use of time.Applicants must demonstrate a broad-based clinical knowledge, experience of mental health pharmacy, and have evidence of excellent communication skills. The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and being enthusiastic and innovative are an essential part of this role. We will provide the necessary support and access to training opportunities to ensure your development within your role.
Main duties of the job
* To be responsible for leading and delivering a specialist clinical pharmacy service to patients, medical and nursing staff and other healthcare professionals in accordance with legal and professional requirements and standards.
* To provide ward-based medicines management service to specialist clinical area
* To act as Older Adult Mental Health Directorate Pharmacist, provide expert specialist pharmaceutical advice and reports on medicines expenditure within the Directorate.
* To provide Professional/Clinical cover for the dispensary services.
* To deputise and support the Lead Pharmacists within the Pharmacy Department NHH when required.
* To provide training and education that meets the statutory, professional and regulatory requirements of foundation pharmacists, post-foundation pharmacists, other pharmacists, and technicians.

Qualifications and/or knowledge
Essential
* Masters Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
* One year pre-registration competency based training
* Postgraduate clinical specialist knowledge acquired through diploma level training i.e. Diploma in clinical pharmacy/ MSC or equivalent experience
* Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPC) or eligible for membership.
Desirable
* Accredited tutor for Clinical Pharmacy Diploma
* Independent prescriber
* Working towards RPS faculty membership
* Post-graduate qualification or training in mental health therapeutics
