Job Summary:
This is a dynamic dual-role position combining key responsibilities from both the Salesperson and Yard Operative roles. The successful candidate will be expected to provide excellent front-line customer service, manage sales orders and product queries, while also being hands-on in the yard—picking orders, loading vehicles, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. This role is ideal for someone who is adaptable, proactive, and thrives in both customer-facing and practical environments.
Key Responsibilities:Sales Duties:
* Create and process quotations and sales orders using the POS (BisTrack) system without assistance.
* Understand and use the POS stock management system to check stock levels across all branches.
* Create special product lines and manage orders for picking.
* Handle customer payments accurately and responsibly, both in-person and online.
* Serve customers politely and professionally, whether at the counter, over the phone, or via email.
* Follow all office procedures with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Provide clear, honest, and accurate product information including availability and lead times.
* Process and follow up online and installer network leads.
* Understand KPIs and work to achieve set sales targets.
* Follow up quotations and record feedback for lost quotes using the POS system.
* Proactively manage relationships with inactive customer accounts assigned to you and your team, regularly contacting them to secure repeat business.
* Accurately document customer interactions, sales activities, and account updates using CRM software (e.g., HubSpot), BisTrack, and relevant spreadsheets.
* Investigate and pursue new business opportunities using CRM leads, conducting regular follow-ups to convert new contacts into active customers.
* Offer expert product advice and solutions to customers, ensuring their requirements are fully understood and effectively met.
Yard Duties:
* Load customers' vehicles with purchased materials, either by hand or forklift depending on the situation.
* Accurately pick materials from picking notes, ensuring orders are complete and correct.
* Unload incoming deliveries and correctly position stock while ensuring proper rotation.
* Maintain tidiness and safety of the yard at all times through good housekeeping (5S).
* Liaise effectively with sales staff and customers to ensure smooth operations.
* Assist customers with product advice and support prior to purchase when required.
* Carry out forklift checks and adhere to all safety and regulatory requirements.

* Presentable and customer-service focused.
* Comfortable working indoors at the counter and outdoors in the yard.
* Sound understanding of measurements and basic calculations.
* Attention to detail in all sales and operational activities.
* Housekeeping and organisation skills following 5S principles.
* Forklift experience/licence (preferred but not essential—training can be provided).
* Willingness to learn both sides of the business and work as part of a close-knit team.
