What difference will you make
As Assistant Head of Production, you’ll play a key part in keeping Brum Radio running smoothly. By supporting producers, presenters, and campaigns, you’ll help make sure that diverse voices and Birmingham’s cultural life reach thousands of listeners each week. Your organisation and communication will make life easier for our creative team, allowing them to focus on making great programmes. You’ll also help new volunteers find their feet, ensuring they feel supported and confident. In short your work behind the scenes will help Brum Radio stay connected, collaborative, and able to share the best of Birmingham with the world.
What are we looking for

* Clear, calm and kind in their communication
* Able to work collaboratively with creative people
* Flexible and dependable, happy to step in when needed
* Comfortable juggling tasks and keeping track of priorities
* Genuinely interested in radio, podcasting, or broadcasting, with enthusiasm for the creative and cultural work we do
* Experienced - with at least 3 years working in media, production, or creative projects, or in a comparable role that shows strong organisational and coordination skills
What will you be doing
Brum Radio is looking for an organised, dependable team player to step into the new role of Assistant Head of Production. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys keeping creative things running smoothly — whether that’s supporting our show producers, helping organise campaigns, or making sure everyone has the information they need to do their best work. You’ll work closely with our Head of Production to keep the station’s day-to-day output on track. That could mean stepping in to produce a show, helping brief presenters about a new sponsor, booking guests for a podcast, or making sure someone’s covered when life gets in the way. You don’t have to be a production expert yet — just someone with strong communication skills, good instincts, and a willingness to learn.
What you might find yourself doing
* Supporting producers and presenters across the station
* Stepping in to help with live or recorded shows when needed
* Helping manage rotas, team communication, and cover planning
* Giving feedback or advice to producers and team members
* Booking podcast guests or coordinating recordings
* Helping with internal comms — making sure teams know what’s coming up
* Supporting the rollout of advertising or promotional campaigns
* Being part of a station-wide effort to keep things connected, clear and collaborative
* Joining management or planning meetings occasionally
* Just being someone people can turn to when something needs sorting
