The Role An exciting opportunity has become available for the Senior nurse role for Tissue Viability within NHS Lanarkshire. Working within the NMAHP Practice Development Centre, the Senior Nurse for Tissue viability is responsible and accountable for the leadership and management of the tissue viability service within NHS Lanarkshire. This service provides specialist tissue viability advice and clinical support across the Acute division, North and South Health and Social care partnerships and into the care home sector within Lanarkshire. In addition, the senior nurse for tissue viability works collaboratively with procurement and provides clinical leadership to the management of the specialist mattress contract. The senior nurse for tissue viability leads a team of tissue viability specialist nurses which comprises of 2 Advanced Specialist nurses and 3. clinical nurse specialist. In addition to this the Clinical nurse advisor to the specialist mattress contract is integral to the team and the senor nurses provides leadership and support to this role. The tissue viability service provides specialist support and clinical input for patients and residents who require complex wound management and support, Quality Improvement support and input in relation to quality improvements for pressure area prevention and care and educational solutions which support a wide range of staff across acute and community settings in relation to all aspects of the tissue viability service. The senior nurse and team will be required to work collaboratively with other specialist services such as podiatry, dermatology and vascular services where care is shared. As part of the leadership team within the NMAHP Practice development centre the senior nurse for tissue viability works collaboratively with the wider aspects of practice development, working closely with the Excellence in Care team, Practice Education team, Clinical skills development team and the business support team. As part of the leadership team the senior nurse for tissue viability will deputise for the Director of NMAHP Practice Development as appropriate. The senior nurse for tissue viability will be required to be a subject matter expert within the field of wound care and management, including pressure area prevention and management. Educated to Masters level or equivalent, the senior nurse for tissue viability will have relevant experience within the field and robust knowledge and application of quality improvement methodologies. Knowledge of educational approaches and learning and teaching strategies will be required for this role The senior nurse will require to work across all four pillars of practice, providing support to the team, identifying new and innovative ways of working including further developing digital approaches to service and care delivery. What we'll need you to bring A Registered Practitioner on either the NMC or HCPC register At least 5 years post registration experience in a healthcare setting, with at least 3 years in a clinical or educational leadership position (Band 7 or above) Educated to Masters Level Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Education or equivalent qualification Able to provide evidence of clinical leadership through involvement in practice development processes Contemporary knowledge of leadership, professional issues and development requirements of the NMAHP workforce Excellent team worker Knowledge /skills/competencies Through clinical and academic achievements and experience to date the post holder is required to demonstrate a high level of competence in clinical leadership and ability to provide professional advice, consultancy, project and people management and educational delivery to a range of staff groups. The post holder will demonstrate a high level of operational performance as a visible and professional leader demonstrating: Knowledge and proficiency in adult learning Substantial clinical leadership experience Self starter and motivator Strong team worker Presentation and writing/publication skills Development, research/quality improvement and facilitation skills Group work/multidisciplinary skills Knowledge of evidence based practice, critical appraisal, evaluation and research Practice development strategies Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills. It would be great if you also have A full UK/EU/EEA licence.
