Salary Scale: £31,892 - £39,735 per annum (pro rata for part-time)
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde are offering an exciting opportunity to undertake a 3-year Graduate Apprenticeship in Operating Department Practice, delivered in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland. Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) provide high standards of perioperative care across three phases: anaesthetic, surgical, and post-anaesthetic.
The programme, starting September 2025, combines online theory with clinical work-based learning. You will be employed in a perioperative environment, gaining experience across NHSGGC with support from clinical mentors. Successful completion enables eligibility for HCPC registration as an ODP.
Vacancy locations include:
* Clyde Sector: Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital
* North Sector: Glasgow Royal Infirmary, New Stobhill Hospital
* South Sector: Gartnavel General Hospital, New Victoria Hospital, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
Additional placements are available in Women and Children’s services, including paediatrics, neonates, and maternity wards.
What you need to bring:
A caring, self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills, committed to personal development, proficient with digital technology, and capable of working to deadlines and prioritising tasks.
Entry qualifications:
Five passes in Scottish National Qualifications, including three at Higher Level C or above, or equivalent.
English language requirement:
Communication skills equivalent to IELTS Level 7, with no element below 6.5.
Funding:
Eligible candidates should apply for SAAS funding. If not eligible, self-funding is required.
Start date:
No later than the week commencing 8th September 2025. Interviews are scheduled for the week of 26th May in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde locations.
