Due to continued growth, we are now looking for an experienced Production Shift Manager to join our team.
The Role
As Production Shift Manager, you will be responsible for leading site operations in line with safety, quality, cost, and performance standards. You will drive operational excellence, support continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure the site remains audit-ready at all times.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee production planning, team management, compliance, and performance delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead by example in Health & Safety, ensuring full compliance with company policies and safe systems of work
Deliver against KPIs set by the Site Manager, driving performance and continuous improvement
Plan and manage production runs to minimise waste, maximise product life, and meet customer dispatch deadlines
Oversee ordering of raw materials and packaging in line with business needs
Work closely with Engineering to maximise machine productivity and reduce downtime
Ensure product quality, integrity, traceability, and documentation standards are maintained
Support and lead internal, customer, and third-party audits, maintaining an "audit-ready" site
Conduct risk assessments, accident investigations, and internal HSE and technical audits
Lead team briefs and manage performance reviews
Manage holidays, headcount, and wage budgets effectively
Identify training needs and develop team capability
Conduct disciplinaries in line with company procedures
Foster strong cross-departmental relationships
Take responsibility for the site in the absence of the Site Manager
Flexibility is essential, as business demands may change in line with customer requirements.
About You
We are looking for a proactive, people-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced food production environment.
You will ideally have:
Experience in food manufacturing or FMCG production
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and food safety standards
Experience managing teams and delivering performance targets
Understanding of HACCP and audit processes
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A "Right First Time" mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
Relevant qualifications such as IOSH Managing Safely, HACCP Level 3, Food Hygiene Level 3, or management training would be advantageous (training can be provided where required).
