Overview
Corporate Counsel, Music at Amazon. The Amazon Music legal team is looking for a Corporate Counsel to join us in London to help support our growing UK and EU music business.
Amazon Music is an immersive audio entertainment service that connects fans, artists, and creators through music, podcasts, audiobooks, artist merchandising and artist livestreams. This role involves working directly and independently with clients across the Amazon Music business and collaborating with Amazon’s entertainment legal teams. The ideal candidate is an innovative problem solver who enjoys learning about new areas, creating creative solutions, and is interested in opportunities to work with AI tools.
Responsibilities
* Be the primary legal support for several Amazon Music business clients in the UK and EU, collaborating with US counterparts.
* Advise the music business on a broad range of entertainment regulatory matters, and lead on strategic projects.
* Provide day-to-day legal advice on content licensing and product counselling for new business initiatives.
* Negotiate and draft complex licensing, distribution and other commercial/industry agreements.
* Provide strategic guidance on regulatory matters, licensing, and developments in the entertainment industry.
* Cooperate closely with international business and legal stakeholders; some travel may be required.
Basic Qualifications
* 5+ years post-qualification legal experience
* Excellent analytical and communication skills and the ability to act as a business partner
Preferred Qualifications
* 3+ years of experience in a national or international law firm, preferably with experience on copyright/licensing, technology, or regulatory matters
* Ability to develop creative and pragmatic solutions to novel legal questions
* Good judgment in ambiguous and complex situations
* Ability to deliver results independently
* Command of other European languages, particularly Spanish, Italian, French or German is a plus
