SEND Secondary Teacher – Hackney
A fantastic SEND secondary school in Hackney is looking for a caring, committed Teacher to join their supportive team. Students (11-18) have a range of needs including autism, SEMH, and communication difficulties.
What you’ll do:
1. Provide individual and small‑group support to students with diverse SEND needs
2. Use positive behaviour strategies to help students regulate and engage
3. Support communication, social development, and emotional wellbeing
4. Contribute to a safe, calm, and inspiring classroom environment
5. Support with EHCP targets, helping students work toward personalised goals
6. Adapt learning materials to make lessons accessible
7. Support sensory needs, including helping students use sensory tools, take movement breaks, or access quiet spaces
What we’re looking for:
8. A patient, enthusiastic and reliable team player
9. Experience supporting young people with SEND (school or community settings)
10. Strong communication skills and a proactive, flexible approach
11. A genuine passion for helping students grow in confidence and independence
12. Must have Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
