Role Responsibility Fixed Term Full Time The role is to support NGBs and their local clubs to embed welfare policies and practices, as well as promote good practice and an inclusive culture of safe sport for children, young people and adults. The post holders will add capacity and expertise to the existing safeguarding work of NGBs and Active Kent and Medway. They will not be responsible for carrying out investigations, but they will engage with local safeguarding organisations including the Local Authority Designated Officers, Safeguarding Children's Partnerships and Adult Safeguarding Board, to connect people working on welfare and safeguarding, both inside and outside sport. The Sport Welfare Officers will be part of the AKM team and contribute to our remit of tackling inactivity by helping those who find it most difficult to be active. We are looking for someone with experience of working in a safeguarding or welfare role; with building relationships, particularly with volunteers in clubs; and engaging with stakeholders to raise awareness, advocate for safe sport, and provide training to upskill the workforce. We are looking to recruit a Sport Welfare Officer to be part of a new national project co-designed by Sport England, National Governing Bodies of Sport, (NGBs) the Child Protection in Sport Unit, Ann Craft Trust and the Active Partnership Network.
