Technical Author – Slaughterhouses and Animal By‑Products – UKBAT – 32429
Join the Environment Agency as a Technical Author in the UK BAT team. The role focuses on developing Best Available Techniques (BAT) conclusions for large slaughterhouses and animal by‑products installations.
Responsibilities
* Draft BAT Conclusions.
* Liaise with Technical Working Groups.
* Present final documents for publication as UK‑wide environmental standards.
* Work with, and write technical documents.
* Manage projects and drive completion.
* Support incident management objectives and participate in development plans.
* Travel and overnight stays may be required.
Qualifications & Skills
* At least 5 years working experience in environmental regulation within the slaughterhouse and animal by‑products industry.
* Specialist knowledge and understanding of the Slaughterhouse and Animal By‑Products sector.
* Good understanding of process engineering, environmental issues, UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, including the IED and Environmental Permitting Regulations.
* Capability of critically analysing technical arguments and data.
* Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to build and maintain relationships.
* Planning, prioritising, and organising tasks and resources to deliver timely results.
* Flexibility to adapt to challenges and build consensus.
Contract & Location
Up to 2 years from appointment. Kingston upon Hull, England.
