We have an exciting opportunity to join our Water Networks team as Crew Lead/Ganger – Water Mains Operative within our Tyne & Wear operating region in the Northeast of England. This role will see you work with your colleagues to carry out repair and maintenance tasks on our underground network of water mains, services, and assets for our customers. This means you’ll be directly contributing to our vision of supplying a clean, clear, and reliable supply of drinking water to customers communities. As the Crew Lead, health and safety of your crew is at the forefront of everything you do. Daily, you will be responsible for providing the training and development of your crew member to ensure you’re a high performing team. This means you will lead by example, demonstrating our company values through your behaviours. We’re looking for you to demonstrate flexibility, including active participation in a standby rota and additional initiatives to achieve better performance. Internally this role is known as Lead Customer Distribution Operative. About You If you are passionate and enthusiastic about delivering an unrivalled customer service, we want to hear from you. You’ll have proven experience in an operational environment. This includes carrying out excavations, repairs, and installations to a high standard which may be within a utilities environment. You’ll be experienced operating and directing a range of plant and equipment associated, whilst working to remain compliant with Permit conditions. In addition, you’ll have hands on knowledge of mains isolations, environmental mitigation procedures, and the requirements of the Disinfection Code of Practice. You’ll demonstrate clear problem-solving abilities, and you’ll be keen to take the initiative to organise your time, materials, and resources to work effectively. You will be able to coach and challenge positively whilst respecting 2-way feedback. You will be competent using technology as you will have a smart phone to record accurate information. The successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop. This role has been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
