Offer description

Overview

COME AND JOIN US IN CHILDREN’S SOCIAL CARE!! EDGE OF CARE SERVICE. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of something brand new for our children and their families in Stockton. We are inviting applicants with a range of skills and the ability to work creatively with families to engage hard to reach families. In Stockton we value the power and impact good relationships can have, understanding that honesty, transparency and trust underpin all that we do and are essential to making a difference in children’s lives. The importance of strong and lasting relationships cannot be underestimated, and we are committed to a relationship based approach in everything we do.

We believe that wherever possible children are best cared for by their families, in their communities. We also know that sometimes families find this very difficult and challenging and need support and intervention to enable them to stay together. As part of our ongoing commitment to improving our offer to children in Stockton we are investing in establishing a dedicated and skilled service to support our families when they need it most and prevent family relationship breakdown and stop children coming into the care system, meaning they stay within their families and communities and thrive. The service will work alongside children, their families and other services to provide a rapid response to children and their families, with robust interventions, for children identified as on the edge of care. The team will deliver intensive interventions (including evenings and weekends) to children and families to support children to remain in their home where it is safe to do so.

We want to support families to identify creative solutions to empower and enable children and families to manage through a crisis and provide strategies and tools to enable them to sustain effective change in the longer-term and meet their potential.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Family Worker you will work alongside children, their families and professionals in their lives to overcome barriers that are threatening to break down a family and have a pivotal and invaluable impact on a child. Whatever your background, if you feel you can have that impact and make that difference we welcome your application. No two families are the same; the work will be intensive and being able to establish effective relationships, show empathy and understanding whilst challenging behaviours and supporting change is essential. You will be supported by others to develop and enable this, knowing you are making a difference.

Benefits of the role include working with a supportive team and contributing to improvements in outcomes for children and families.
