Position Summary
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join our team at the Nestlé Purina site in Sudbury. You will work within a strategic and fast-moving factory team, handling equipment ranging from robots to production machinery. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, you will be part of a team that benefits from the support of a global network while enjoying the close-knit environment of a smaller team.
A day in the life of a Maintenance Engineer
You will support and execute the factory's asset maintenance program aimed at minimizing unplanned downtime, optimizing maintenance costs, and increasing asset efficiency. This role involves managing a set of production and packaging assets, implementing engineering strategies to drive performance in safety, quality, cost, and service.
Other responsibilities include:
1. Maintaining machinery condition through reactive, preventative, and predictive maintenance activities.
2. Supporting breakdowns and participating in line improvements, becoming the Subject Matter Expert for your area.
3. Promoting a safety-first culture and eliminating safety risks.
4. Ensuring all work adheres to high engineering standards, GMP, and safe systems of work.
5. Ensuring compliance with Nestlé's quality policies, particularly regarding engineering change management and line release.
6. Recording breakdowns, conducting root cause analysis, and following up on actions.
7. Supporting root cause analysis projects and practices.
8. Assisting in the development of Shift Technicians and Apprentice Technicians, and supporting the Asset Management team following the TPM roadmap.
What will make you successful?
Ideal candidates will have experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment, with a strong service orientation and proactive approach to continuous improvement. Other attributes include:
* Apprenticeship level NVQ 3 in Engineering or equivalent, with an electrical bias being advantageous.
* Proven experience in an FMCG food environment (preferred).
* Strong track record in Planned & Preventative Maintenance.
* Experience with problem-solving methodologies.
* Understanding of Lean manufacturing tools, including TPM (preferred).

Salary: Approximately GBP43,000 depending on experience, plus benefits such as a target bonus scheme up to 5% and a competitive pension scheme.
