Our Building Services division provides complete Facilities Management of properties throughout the UK, delivering mechanical and electrical engineering support, cleaning, catering and grounds maintenance on a planned and reactive basis. We use innovative technological solutions to manage our teams in the most efficient ways.
We are looking for an Mobile Electrician to join the team on our Kent County Council project based in West Malling, Kent.
The purpose of this role is to act as Skanska’s first-line representative across multiple sites, delivering planned, breakdown, and emergency maintenance of electrical services throughout the estate. You will take a leading role within the Engineering discipline on specific subjects or work areas, undertake installation work for new or refurbishment projects, and provide cover for the team leader when required.
What you’ll do:
1. Maintain, repair and install electrical systems (power distribution, motors, control panels, lighting, low‑voltage networks) in line with current IEE standards.
2. Deliver planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs, including inspection/testing of fixed plant and portable equipment in compliance with BS7671.
3. Diagnose complex electrical faults, communicate issues with supervisors, and identify necessary parts to complete work efficiently.
4. Interpret engineering drawings/specifications, updating all documentation and asset records accurately through record sheets or CAFM systems.
5. Support project work and circuit modifications, provide training to colleagues, and monitor CAFM tasks to meet deadlines and ensure full health & safety compliance.
We’re looking for:
6. NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) plus 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations certification.
7. Completion of a structured Electrical Engineering training programme (minimum 3 years).
8. Full UK driving licence with experience working across multiple sites.
9. Strong communication skills with proven ability to co‑ordinate tasks effectively and deliver excellent customer service.
10. IT literate (MS Office & CAFM systems) with good numeracy and administrative skills.
Working hours: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday (typically 08:00–17:00). Participation in the on‑call rota required.
