Job Description
PURPOSE
Automation Technicians will support Project Managers and System Engineers by creating, installing, and commissioning PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, as well as handling network and device integration tasks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are typical but not exhaustive. Other duties may be assigned.
* Start up, commission, service, and maintain PLC/HMI/SCADA control systems, diagnose faults, repair hardware, and perform programming fixes on customer sites.
* Diagnose and resolve technical issues on job sites, report findings to Project Management or Operations via email, SharePoint, or other repositories.
* Participate in project kickoff and turnover meetings with Project Managers to understand project scope and documentation.
* Organize control submittal redlines and submit for as-built drawing creation at project completion.
* Collaborate with other technicians to develop technical solutions.
* Engage in ongoing training to stay updated on new products, tools, and integrations.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
* Associate’s degree in Robotics, Automation, Technology, or related field, or 3-5 years of relevant experience in PLC/HMI control systems.
* Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related fields is also acceptable.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL COMPETENCIES
* Proficiency with at least one PLC software (e.g., Rockwell Suite, Modicon Unity Pro, etc.)
* Proficiency with at least one HMI software (e.g., Rockwell FactoryTalk View, Wonderware InTouch, etc.)
* Knowledge of SCADA platforms (e.g., Ignition, GE iFix, etc.)
* Familiarity with Windows Office applications and repositories (OneDrive, SharePoint, GIT)
* Optional knowledge of Microsoft SQL or other databases
* Understanding of Ethernet and serial network communication
* Basic understanding of process controls (PID loops, motor control, measurement devices)
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written
* Ability to travel approximately 25% for overnight work
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Prolonged desk work at a computer
* Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
* Fieldwork involving standing, walking, and climbing stairs on construction sites under various weather conditions
