Position Overview and Responsibilities
CAA ICON, a division of CAA Sport, is the world’s leading owner’s representative and project management consultancy for developing or renovating sports, entertainment, and public venues. With over 55 iconic venues managed and more than 2,000 consulting engagements worldwide, we seek an exceptional Senior Project Director based in Newcastle to lead projects that inspire communities and create unforgettable experiences for fans.
Reporting to the Project Executive or Senior Project Director, you will oversee daily project activities, manage Project Managers and Coordinators, and ensure successful project delivery.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Lead a collaborative project culture prioritizing health, safety, and well-being.
* Engage with stakeholders to develop and maintain comprehensive project requirements documentation.
* Manage procurement of consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
* Coordinate with designers and architects to align on design development with the client’s brief.
* Oversee project meetings, monitor actions, and communicate project timelines and budgets.
* Maintain project schedules, report issues, and ensure milestones are met.
* Review costs, contribute to budget reports, and establish project controls.
* Administer contracts as Employer’s Agent and manage project changes.
* Monitor construction progress onsite, resolve issues proactively, and escalate as needed.
* Review payments, maintain documentation, and manage risk registers.
* Support statutory approvals and permits for venue operation.
* Coordinate project close-out activities, testing, and manuals.
* Ensure procurement and delivery align with client scope, promoting sustainability.
* Participate actively in the global CAA ICON team.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Proven leadership with ability to build positive relationships with clients and teams.
* Minimum 15 years’ experience in construction or related industries, with project management and employer’s agent roles.
* Experience managing high-value, complex projects.
* Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Strong understanding of project phases, change processes, budgets, and technical plans.
* Ability to interpret contracts, drawings, and project documentation.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
* Ability to multitask, learn continuously, and work under pressure with integrity.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and related tools.
* Enthusiasm for working on exciting sports, entertainment, and public projects in the UK and Europe.
