Job Description: Caretaker / Cleaner (2-Month Contract with Local Authority) Summary: This temporary position is designed to cover sickness until 12.8.26, offering a pay rate of £15.37 per hour. The role involves providing a high-quality caretaking and cleaning service across council housing stock. The aim is to ensure communal areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained, supporting a positive living environment for residents while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and building regulations. Key Responsibilities: Perform cleaning of internal and external communal areas, including: Sweeping, mopping, and dusting Litter picking and waste removal Cleaning entrances, stairwells, and shared spaces Sweeping car parks, service roads, and outdoor areas Remove bulk waste and ensure safe and correct disposal. Collaborate as part of a small caretaking team to deliver efficient and reliable service. Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards across all assigned areas. Ensure compliance with all health and safety, fire safety, and building safety regulations. Identify and report maintenance issues, hazards, or concerns within communal areas. Use cleaning equipment and materials safely and appropriately. Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and residents when required. Requirements Requirements: Experience: Previous experience in a caretaking, cleaning, or facilities role within a professional environment. Experience working in communal or residential settings (desirable). Experience adhering to health and safety regulations. Qualifications: No formal qualifications required; relevant cleaning or caretaking training is beneficial. Full clean UK Manual Driving Licence (essential). Knowledge & Skills: Strong understanding of cleaning practices and use of equipment. Knowledge of health, safety, fire, and building compliance standards. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks. Reliable, hardworking, and conscientious approach to work. Good communication and organisational skills. Additional Information: Working hours: 36 hours per week. Monday to Thursday: 8 am - 4 pm with a 10-minute tea break at 10 am and a 45-minute lunch break from 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm. Friday: 8 am - 4 pm with a 10-minute tea break at 10 am and a 1-hour lunch break from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Must attend the first day with steel toe-capped boots and suitable workwear for a short introduction and trial day. Driving license essential. Bi-weekly schedule. The role closes soon, apply ASAP.
