Job summary


Are you an experienced psychologist or psychological practitioner with an enthusiasm for working in a crisis service? Do you have the skills and experience of working with a multi-disciplinary team and providing a psychological perspective to the care provided? Do you have experience in supervising and managing members of the psychology team?

This post offers the opportunity to be part of our crisis and home treatment services in West London. The post holder would be joining the psychology team comprising a Principal Clinical Psychologist and a Clinical Associate in Psychology based in the Hounslow team.

The post-holder will work collaboratively and proactively with the multi-disciplinary team to manage risk robustly and to provide a psychological perspective to the care provided. Responsibilities include assessment, formulation, brief interventions, reflective practice, team formulation, consultation, and post-incident support. The post holder will supervise and line-manage the Clinical Associate in Psychology and may provide placements for trainees and students.



Main duties of the job


MAIN DUTIES
1. Providing comprehensive psychological services including assessment, formulation, risk assessment, and evidence-based interventions.
2. Offering indirect support through psychological advice, consultation, and contributing to clinical meetings and team formulation.
3. Enhancing the MDT's understanding and skills in psychological approaches via teaching, training, and supervision.
4. Working as an integrated member of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality service provision and governance.
5. Utilising research skills for audit, policy development, and service improvement.

Person Specification
Education

Essential
* Doctoral training in clinical or counselling psychology, including psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, multiple therapies, and lifespan development, accredited by BPS or equivalent.
* Registration with HCPC or equivalent.
* Training in clinical supervision for doctoral trainees.

Desirable
* Training in supervision of psychological therapies.
* Post-doctoral training in therapies for severe mental health issues (e.g., DBT, CBT-P, Systemic).

Experience

Essential
* Post-qualification experience in mental health settings delivering assessments, formulations, and interventions.
* Experience working with diverse client groups across the lifespan with varying severity.
* Experience supervising psychologists or other professionals.

Desirable
* Experience working with trauma-affected adults.
* Service development and leadership experience.
* Experience facilitating psychological groups.

Knowledge/Skills

Essential
* Skills in psychological assessment, formulation, and management requiring concentration.
* Effective communication skills for complex and sensitive information.
* Doctoral-level knowledge of research methods and data analysis.
* Ability to communicate highly sensitive or contentious information effectively.

Desirable
* Advanced psychometric and neuropsychological testing skills.
* Knowledge of QN-CRHTT standards.
