Hours: 17.5 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday, Tuesday 8.45am - 4.45pm, Wednesday 8.45am - 12.15pm

Salary: £18,212 - £18,732 per year

Housing and Technical Resources have a proven track record in delivering an excellent service to the Gypsy Traveller community at our two sites in Larkhall and East Kilbride.

An exciting opportunity has now arisen for an experienced individual to join our team in delivering this service to our East Kilbride site.

As a Gypsy Traveller Site Assistant, you will be responsible for successfully managing the Gypsy Traveller site on a daily basis, liaising with the Gypsy Traveller community and agencies and contributing to Gypsy Traveller issues within the Council.

You should ideally have experience of working with the Gypsy Traveller community and have an understanding of the current issues, legislation and best practice in this area.

Your responsibilities will include ensuring sites are maintained and meet all legislative requirements including health and safety, acting as an advocate for tenants and other members of Gypsy Traveller community, contributing to good practice locally and nationally, dealing with unauthorised encampments as they occur, encouraging Tenant Participation with Council Services.

We are seeking an individual who is dynamic and self-motivated with the ability to work on their own initiative. You should demonstrate excellent communication skills, and the ability to liaise effectively with a wide variety of agencies and networks. You must have the ability to organise and prioritise your workload in an effective way and adapt to changing priorities as required in delivering a quality service.

As part of your duties, you will be expected to assist the East Kilbride Homeless Team with the management of their temporary accommodation voids. This will include carrying out inspections of properties and being available to carry out any duties as required by the team in relation to their temporary accommodation.

This role will involve travel throughout the South Lanarkshire area. You will be eligible to participate in South Lanarkshire Council's Car Pool Scheme as it would be advantageous to have access to a vehicle for business purposes when required to travel to alternative locations.
