About the role
We are seeking a Part‑Time Scientific Officer to join our team at the Tamworth Laboratory.
Responsibilities:
* Perform manual and automated diagnostic testing.
* Carry out routine procedures from specimen reception to results execution, including specimen dissection.
* Assist with stock control and maintain accurate records.
* Maintain equipment and perform routine quality assurance activities.
* Keep current scientific knowledge and contribute to assay development.
* Participate in staff training and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
* Adhere to policies, procedures, WH&S, and quality assurance processes.
About you
Essential qualifications and experience:
* Bachelor of Applied Science (Biomedical Science or Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
* NOOSR or AIMS certification if qualification is from outside Australia.
* Experience in Haematology and Biochemistry desirable; training will be provided.
* Availability for morning, afternoon and rotating weekend shifts.
* Strong communication skills, self‑motivation, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
* Professional attitude toward confidentiality and WH&S compliance.
* Alignment with company vision, culture, and values.
