The Bear is an idyllic country pub steeped in history, that’s been providing the locals of Cobham with a place to retreat since the 1700s. The pub is the heart and soul of the Cobham, Oxshott, and Leatherhead community, with our passionate team focused on providing a ‘home away from home’ atmosphere while serving your favourite treats and tipples.
From local guest ales to craft beers, our team is on hand to pour the perfect pint. Not to mention our extensive wine list and classic cocktails. Our seasonal, locally inspired menu features hearty yet refined dishes with exciting twists, perfect for a romantic Saturday night dinner or a family fun-filled Sunday lunch.
About Being a Head Chef at Young's:
We believe every pub should be unique. As a Head Chef, you will create your own recipes that align with your pub’s food vision using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The vision could focus on showcasing local produce, country pub classics, seafood, small plates and sharers, dry-aged meat—each pub is different, and it’s up to you to put your creative stamp on it. We work with fresh, seasonal produce, so the menu should evolve constantly to highlight ingredients at their best. You will craft premium fresh food with skilled chefs in our premium pubs.

What we look for in a Head Chef:
This role requires someone who can inspire a team, bring out potential, and lead by example while developing, costing, and producing fresh seasonal menus for various revenue streams within the business.
* Experience championing excellent service through quality food, either as a Head Chef or Sous Chef
* Passion for leading and developing a team
* Active, hands-on team player with excellent communication skills
* Responsible for managing the kitchen staff rota, training, and health and safety effectively
* Creativity and ability to design and deliver new dishes for menus and specials
* Strong planning and organizational skills to maintain controls regarding GP and labour
* Pro-active approach to driving sales and growth through engagement with kitchen and front-of-house teams
