Revenue Reporting Analyst Love solving problems and driving real change? Are you an enthusiastic self-starter who wants to work for a fantastic team in a top performing organisation? If so, you are exactly what we are looking for and here at Scottish Water we have just the role for you. About The Role Working as a Revenue Reporting Analyst, you will be joining a small, dynamic team who are the ‘go to’ experts for Revenue and Charging data. You will join a motivated team who are committed to continuously improving the service we provide to our internal and external customers. You will have a highly diverse and challenging role, which plays an instrumental part in producing the analysis required to help protect the integrity of Wholesale and Household charges. Specifically, you will support the monthly Financial Reporting process, carry out data analysis to understand variances, and identify anomalies and trends so that we can forecast our cashflow and revenue. You will also deliver analysis on wholesale data as required by the business and work with other business teams to maintain data quality. What Are We Looking For? We’re looking for a Reporting Analyst who is curious with analytical, organisational and communication skills who can apply their skills to a wide range of challenges, such as conducting in-depth analysis and interpretation of wholesale data to reconcile the database of Supply Points and charge data; reviewing financial models to understand the impact to revenue of various revenue generating initiatives; preparing monthly variance analysis reports comparing actuals to budget and forecast, identifying key drivers of variances and providing commentary; supporting the preparation of monthly revenue and cash flow forecasts, monitoring forecast accuracy and suggesting improvements to forecasting processes; and maintaining robust processes to ensure that all potential issues identified are analysed, logged, and tracked through to resolution, including liaison with other internal departments or market participants. We are looking for an approachable, articulate and confident individual who is detail-focused with a continuous improvement mindset and has had experience in a finance role handling large amounts of data. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be part-qualified (ICAS, ACCA, or CIMA) or have 2 years’ experience in financial analysis/reporting. You should have experience using MS Excel as a data investigation tool and MS PowerBI for report development, including PowerQuery (M language) and DAX. You must be able to deal with complex or abstract issues, breaking them down and communicating them in ways different audiences can understand. A willingness to learn, be inquisitive, and take responsibility to meet targets and goals is essential. Being proactive, with a desire to get involved and take ownership of processes or projects outside of your comfort zone, will also serve you well. This is a full-time position with a flexible base location, though some travel to our main offices will be beneficial to collaborate with other members of the team, particularly when learning the job. If this has got you interested or sounds like the type of opportunity you could excel in, we would love to hear from you! Looking out for you While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance. The normal working hours for this role are Monday to Friday from 9-5. But you’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community. When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working. For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), as well as life assurance. As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping. The not-so-small print This role will be a Grade 6. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £33,560. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £44,140 If you’re interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we’ll be accepting applications until the amended closing date of midnight on Friday 27th June | Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party. Don’t worry - we’ll ask your permission before starting these checks. A few final things worth knowing… Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If you’re interested in this job, but don’t tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So don’t rule yourself out! Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters!). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. We’re very used to making adjustments, so please don’t be afraid to ask. As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it’s important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you don’t already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months. Finally (finally!), candidates who haven’t submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You won’t need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted. We’re here to help.
