Job Summary

An excellent development opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our diverse team as a Senior Pharmacy Technician – CPSD Team Leader.

This role will manage workload and supervise staff on a day‑to‑day basis, driving efficient working and organising cover for any unexpected staff absences to ensure a safe, effective and timely service in accordance with current legislation and guidance.

To help us achieve this you must demonstrate core leadership and organisational skills and the ability to inspire and motivate others.

Previous experience of working in a supervisory or leadership role and an understanding of Good Distribution Practice is advantageous. Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council is essential.


Responsibilities

* Supervise and directly manage the delivery of efficient and effective day‑to‑day operations within the pharmacy purchasing, invoicing, stores and distribution teams.
* Develop and maintain a working environment that encourages teamwork, mutual support and excellence in service delivery, reducing risks to a minimum.
* Write and update standard operating procedures in line with governance requirements for pharmacy purchasing, invoicing, storage and distribution.
* Assist in ensuring staff comply with commercial and regulatory requirements, including the MHRA / Good Distribution Practice licence.
* Deliver training for all pharmacy staff involved in purchasing, invoicing, storage and distribution of medicines.
* Support the Principal Technician – Purchasing, Supply & Logistics in maintaining key performance targets and monitoring the quality of service provided.


Qualifications

* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Minimum qualification NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services, BTEC Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent.


Essential Experience

* Hospital pharmacy experience or equivalent relevant practice.
* Experience with pharmacy computer systems for ordering, invoicing, stock control and pharmacology management.
* Working in a customer‑focused environment.
* Experience of line management and people management.
* Experience of undertaking audits.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


Desirable Experience

* Experience with electronic prescribing and administration systems.
* Experience in medicines procurement, pharmacy distribution and purchasing.
* Experience in stock control management and team management.
* Membership of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians (APT(UK)).


Knowledge

* Pharmacy computer systems and audit techniques.
* Pharmacy stock control procedures.
* Continuing professional development evidence.


Skills

* Effective written and verbal communication with staff and patients.
* Prioritising in response to competing demands.
* Methodical approach to tasks.
* IT skills – Microsoft Word, Excel.
* Ability to impart disciplinary matters appropriately.

Salary & Contract

Band 6 – £38,682 to £46,580 a year pro rata (fixed‑term, 1 year). Full‑time, part‑time or flexible working available.
