We are partnering with a Local Authority in Somerset to recruit a Litigation Lawyer for a 3-month locum contract.
This role offers a 25-hour workweek with an hourly rate of approximately £60.00 (Umbrella).
Responsibilities include:
1. Managing caseloads and advising on litigation matters such as homelessness, housing disrepair, debt recovery, possession proceedings, injunctions, anti-social behaviour, traveller encampments, regulatory prosecutions, and judicial review proceedings.
2. Conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and legal documents, and providing case analysis.
3. Advising on education matters, particularly challenges to decisions regarding SEND and EHC Assessments.
4. Negotiating settlements and alternative dispute resolutions when appropriate.
5. Advising on licensing schemes and enforcement work.
6. Providing guidance and supervision to junior Litigation team members.
Requirements:
* Experience in Local Government law is required.
