This is a fantastic opportunity to join Dorset Council’s Children’s Services Workforce Development Team. We are a supportive and values-led team working to strengthen the youth work workforce across Dorset. You will play an important role in helping us ensure that our Youth Work qualification and training programme is delivered to a consistently high standard for both voluntary sector and Council-employed youth workers. This Level 1 Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) role is ideal for someone who is confident, organised and committed to supporting high-quality youth work practice. What You Will Be Doing Working closely with colleagues in the Youth Work Training Team, you will support the internal quality assurance of the Level 2 and Level 3 Youth Work qualifications. This includes: Assisting with the sampling of learner work to check it meets the required Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria Supporting assessors by providing clear, constructive feedback Helping ensure assessment decisions are consistent and meet VACS requirements (valid, authentic, current and sufficient) Contributing to observations of assessors and training delivery sessions Supporting with record‑keeping and maintaining accurate documentation Assisting with standardisation activities across the assessor team Helping to action any requirements following external moderation This is a developing role. You will be supported to build your quality assurance skills and will work under the guidance of the Workforce Development Manager. About You We’re looking for someone who is motivated, collaborative and committed to improving outcomes for young people. Qualifications / Experience You will need: A JNC-recognised professional Youth Work qualification Experience working with young people in a youth work setting Experience supporting or assessing adult learners (desirable for Level 1) A willingness to complete the A1 Assessor qualification and V1 IQA qualification if not already held (training will be supported) Skills, Abilities & Knowledge Good understanding of youth work practice and principles Basic awareness of the National Occupational Standards for Youth Work Ability to work effectively with learners, assessors and other stakeholders Good organisational and time‑management skills Strong written and verbal communication Ability to maintain accurate records and follow quality assurance processes ICT skills including Microsoft 365 Further Information This post involves working with children and/or vulnerable adults and/or having access to significant information about them.
