A leading engineering and manufacturing business is looking for a Senior Machining Engineer to strengthen its CNC machining capability and support complex production activity across modern, high volume machining cells. This is a senior role with real ownership, working closely with operations to optimise CNC processes, introduce new tooling strategies, support automation and lead key engineering projects.
The Role
• Lead machining process development and improvement across CNC machining centres including horizontal, vertical and multi axis platforms
• Optimise programs, tooling strategies, feeds and speeds and cutting methods to improve cycle times and repeatability
• Support and improve automated machining cells including Fastems, Heller or similar systems
• Support NPI with full machining process planning, fixturing, routings and production readiness
• Introduce new tooling, fixtures, probing routines and methods that support efficient and reliable machining
• Work with production, maintenance and engineering teams to resolve complex machining issues on the shop floor
• Support CAPEX projects linked to machining capability, equipment upgrades and cell automation
• Maintain accurate work instructions, machining documentation and standard operating methods
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and machinists
About You
• Strong background in CNC machining engineering within aerospace, automotive or other precision engineering environments
• Confident with machining centres such as Heller, Mazak, DMG or similar and familiar with automated handling systems such as Fastems
• Skilled in CNC optimisation, tooling selection, process mapping and continuous improvement
• Able to solve real shop floor machining problems and support operators with practical guidance
• Comfortable managing technical machining projects and working with cross functional teams
• Practical, hands on and driven to improve machining capability, repeatability and production performance
