Key Tasks/Accountabilities
* Work collaboratively with the Health and Safety Manager to develop the Club’s health and safety management system and safety culture and drive improvements in health and safety and carry out any other Health and Safety duties and investigations as directed by them.
* Work in partnership with Club operations teams to enable them to take ownership, responsibility and accountability for directly assessing, controlling and mitigating risks that exist or emerge offering practical support and solutions to drive continuous improvement and to ensure compliance with all relevant law.
* To produce and implement & review HS&E related policies, procedures and safe systems of work including risk assessment and advise colleagues who are responsible on how to implement them, balancing the management of operational health, safety and environmental risks with operational considerations.
* Design, build, and manage bespoke risk control systems, including developing solutions that utilise Google platforms such as AppSheet and Apps Script for Google applications.
* To advise on and carry out safety, health and environmental impact assessments before a new initiative is implemented to ensure risk is managed to as low as reasonably practicable.
* To provide advice for the management of occupational health risks including the assessment of work equipment to establish noise and vibration emissions to manage risks and inform the health surveillance required.
* To assist and advise the HR department with occupational return to work assessments, reasonable adjustments and implementation of advice from Occupational Health clinicians, including referrals and implementation of action plans to prevent harm.
* To participate and present data and updates to H&S Forum meetings, Sites Network Operating Forum, Staff Council and other meetings as part of the consultation and communications processes.
* To carry out root cause accident and incident investigation to determine any gaps in the risk control system and / or breach of regulations; create and monitor action plans to completion to drive continuous improvement, regularly reporting and providing statistical analysis to internal stakeholders across the Clubs operations.
* To conduct proactive and reactive monitoring including site audits, subject specific deep dive audits both in a planned and reactive way to report on performance, provide advice and support based on audit findings and promote the Clubs health and safety arrangements.
* To carry out and review fire risk assessments for simple buildings and events.
* To work with the Procurement Team reviewing contractor competence and safety performance and work collaboratively with stakeholders who employ contractors to monitor and where required review health and safety arrangements.
* To create health and safety training materials, working with key stakeholders to ensure the content is suitable and sufficient.
The role of Health, Safety & Environment Advisor may have access to Restricted and Confidential member, worker, volunteer and/or Club business data. This information must only be collected and processed in line with all regulations from the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority), the Data Protection Act, GDPR and all Caravan and Motorhome Club policies and procedures. All types of data held by the Club are valuable and must be protected.
Essential Skills & Experience Required
* Previous health, safety and environment experience in an organisation operating multiple sites.
* Ability to travel around the UK with regular overnight stays - Entitlement to drive in the UK.
* To be competent in providing a professional Health and Safety advisory service to the business.
* To be able to plan and work independently as well as part of a multi disciplinary team in a busy department.
* Ability to build relationships and influence internal and external stakeholders and negotiate improvements to risk control systems, business partnering with key stakeholders.
* Ability to carry out performance HSMS monitoring, auditing sites and conducting accident investigations.
* Ability to keep up to date with changes in legislation and industry best practice, keeping up professional CPD.
* NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent. Certified Member IOSH minimum or equivalent.
* Foundation Fire Risk Assessment Qualification to BS 8674:2025 - RQF Level 3 Certificate England & Wales or SCQF Level 6 Certificate Scotland
* Proficient in Google Work Space or equivalent
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Understanding of food hygiene requirements.
* Environmental foundation qualification.
* Nebosh Construction Health and Safety Certificate (RQF/CQFW Level 4) or similar.
* Previous experience of safety within an multisite tour operator/ travel provider/hospitality or leisure provider.
