Responsible Individual Location: Wolverhampton Salary: £350 per day Reports to: Registered Provider / Director Hours: Part-Time, 2 days per week About Us: We are a new specialist residential childcare provider, operating a small home for children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). Our 2-bed home offers a therapeutic and trauma-informed environment where young people are supported to recover, grow, and thrive. Role Overview: As the Responsible Individual (RI), you will hold strategic oversight of the home and ensure it operates in full compliance with regulatory and safeguarding requirements. Working in partnership with the Registered Manager, you will provide support, scrutiny, and governance to ensure the home delivers outstanding care and outcomes for children with EBD. Key Responsibilities: Ensure the home consistently meets the Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and OFSTED inspection requirements. Oversee the development and implementation of therapeutic, trauma-informed care tailored to children with EBD, often presenting with complex trauma, attachment issues, or challenging behaviour. Work closely with the Registered Manager to embed a strong safeguarding culture and high standards of practice. Act as the representative of the registered provider, liaising with local authorities, OFSTED, and safeguarding partnerships. Monitor the homes performance through regulation 45 reporting, audits, and governance frameworks. Challenge and support leadership on recruitment, retention, development, and supervision of care staff. Lead on quality assurance and improvement planning, promoting a reflective and outcome-focused culture. Stay abreast of changes in legislation and best practices relevant to residential care and children with EBD. Person Specification: Essential: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Significant leadership experience in childrens residential care, with a focus on EBD or complex behavioural needs. Deep understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and the legal framework for childrens homes. Experience supporting or overseeing a service through OFSTED inspections, ideally achieving at least Good. Strong emotional resilience, strategic thinking, and leadership skills. Experience as a Responsible Individual or senior operational leader. Therapeutic or trauma-informed practice training (e.g., PACE, Attachment Theory).
