Painter / Blaster at KAEFER UK & Ireland
Opportunity
Based at the Shell St Fergus gas terminal, we carry out anti‑corrosion protection to ferrous and nonferrous surfaces by mechanical preparation, abrasive blast cleaning, and re‑preserve by applying various paint systems, including one‑ and two‑pack epoxy systems.
Do you have a Train the Painter Silver, Gold or ICATS Blasting qualification? If so, we are recruiting for an Industrial Blaster Painter for KAEFER Ltd at Shell St Fergus.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures in compliance with legal regulations.
* Carry out the role in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
* Weekend work and overtime may be required as per business need.
* Predominantly blast warships and submarines in preparation for painting teams to complete their services (some painting may be required).
* Surface Preparation – all forms of preparation including hand and mechanical; candidates should also understand blasting fundamentals to assist with blast set‑up if required.
* Have a thorough understanding of methods of surface treatment and application of protective coatings.
* Health and Safety – detail site aspects and requirements for painters/blasters to meet H&S regulations.
* Access to plant and equipment – including scaffold and mobile platforms.
* Coating Types – all types of paint from single to two‑pack, holding primers to high‑build.
* Application Types – all forms of paint application including brushing, rolling, and spray fundamentals so candidates can assist in setup if required.
* Quality Control – understand the reasoning behind quality control and the methods for readings (wet/dry film thickness, environmental readings).

Essential Requirements
* Train the Painter Silver or Gold minimum. Must have experience in coatings, blasting, or spraying.
Desirable
* Blasting experience: 1 year (essential).
* Full UK Driving Licence.
Rates of Pay & Allowances
* Basic: £22.85 / OT1: £31.99 / OT2: £41.13
* Lodgings: £50.81 (Taxable) (where applicable)
* Return travel allowance (where applicable)
* Permanent full‑time contract (37.5 hours)
* Sociable hours: 08:00 – 16:30 Monday – Thursday / 08:00 – 14:00 Friday; ad‑hoc overtime opportunities.
