About The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of an award-winning Transport team, who have won numerous awards for Operational, Business and H&S excellence over the last two years. Due to the continued growth of the business, we are looking to recruit an Assistant Transport Manager to join our depot in Bristol Avonmouth. You will be responsible for the supervision of the Transport Depot and covering the Transport Manager in their absence. The Assistant Transport Manager will work 40 hours per week over 5 days, Monday to Friday inclusive. During peak operational periods hours may vary to 40 hours a week over 5 days, Monday to Sunday. You will be given notice prior to peak periods.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Assist our transport management team in the smooth running of the transport function
2. Ensure all vehicles are maintained in line with legal requirements
3. Assist Drivers with tasks in the Transport Yard when required
4. Ensure Drivers are managed correctly to work within the driver's hours and working time regulations, using the company recognised processes to manage full compliance
5. Thoroughly investigate any incidents, accidents and near misses when required
6. Assist the training team with the addition of new drivers to the transport department
7. Support the Transport Manager and training team with the recruitment of new drivers
8. Be flexible to cover holidays etc

About You
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
16. Hold a valid C license with no more than 6 penalty points
17. Holds an up to date Driver CPC Qualification, ideally with 35 hours completed
18. Holds an up to date Digital Tachograph Card
19. Must be experienced working within a transport office for multi drop deliveries
20. Must have team leader / management experience within a transport / logistics office minimum 1-year experience
21. Strong knowledge of driver hours and working time regulations
22. Strong knowledge of driver compliance
