Most Project Engineer roles look the same.
You inherit half-defined projects, chase updates across departments, and spend more time reporting problems than actually solving them.
This one is different.
You’ll take ownership of engineering projects from handover through to completion in a business delivering complex energy and offshore systems worldwide. The work sits at the intersection of engineering, commercial delivery and client coordination. You’re the person keeping the whole thing moving.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll act as the focal point for assigned projects - coordinating internal teams, suppliers and clients to ensure delivery stays on track.
Typical responsibilities include:
*
Owning projects from handover through to delivery and completion
*
Managing schedules, project milestones and critical path items
*
Coordinating engineering, commercial and operational teams
*
Identifying risks early across design, commercial and delivery stages
*
Managing procurement of materials and services to meet project timelines
*
Leading project kick-off meetings and design reviews
*
Tracking financial performance and forecasting costs
*
Supporting commissioning, mobilisation and project close-out activities
You’ll also work closely with senior engineers and directors when presenting project progress and resolving delivery challenges.
The environment
This role sits inside a specialist engineering business operating in the energy and offshore sector. Projects can involve multiple stakeholders, tight timelines and technically complex equipment.
You’ll spend most of your time based in the Norwich office, working closely with engineering, operations and commercial teams. Some travel and occasional site work may be required depending on project needs.
What’s on offer
*
Salary up to £40,000
*
Norwich based role
*
Exposure to international engineering projects
*
Real ownership of project delivery
*
A close-knit technical team where you’ll work directly with experienced engineers and leadership
Who this role suits
This will suit someone early in their project engineering career who wants real responsibility rather than just assisting senior engineers.
You’ll likely have:
*
Experience supporting or managing engineering projects
*
The ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and priorities
*
A practical understanding of engineering delivery environments
*
Strong organisational and communication skills
If you enjoy being the person who brings structure to complex projects and keeps delivery moving, this is worth exploring.
