Development Control Engineer
Location: Isle of Wight
Hours: 40 hours per week (flexible/hybrid – Mondays & Fridays will be office based)
Days: Monday - Friday
Duration: Temp to Perm (may be permanent from the outset for the right candidate)
Responsibilities
* Liaise with the local authority planning department, external organisations, developers and the public to provide pre‑application highways advice
* Process and assess the highways elements of planning applications, including undertaking site visits and working to deadlines
* Attend committee meetings and planning appeals
* Process and assess Highway Agreement applications
* Manage detailed records for all schemes, including legal and financial agreements
* Conduct technical review and analysis of existing network capacity and safety
* Assist in the maintenance of highway adoption, highways search and street naming/numbering processes
* Ensure adherence to highways regulations and health and safety standards
Experience & Qualifications
* Previous experience in Highways or Planning Development Control/Design, with knowledge of the Highways Act, CDM legislation and management of teams and works
* Degree level qualification in Planning, Civil Engineering or a related subject (preferred)
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* Ability to work to deadlines, be flexible with duties, and work on own initiative
* Full driver’s licence
Salary
£20.19 per hour (may be flexible for the right candidate)
