SEND Teaching Assistant – South Birmingham – Special School
A welcoming special school in South Birmingham is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for a compassionate and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and complex learning needs.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide both 1-2-1 and small group support, helping pupils access learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment, ensuring every pupil feels valued and supported. The school has excellent facilities, a strong leadership team, and a highly experienced staff who work collaboratively to deliver the best outcomes for pupils.
Responsibilities include:
Providing 1-2-1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
Assisting the class teacher in delivering lessons and adapting resources.
Supporting pupils with communication, social skills, and emotional regulation.
Helping to create an inclusive, nurturing, and supportive classroom environment.
Monitoring and recording pupil progress and behaviour.
Encouraging independence and confidence in learning.The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, ideally in a school setting.
A patient, caring, and resilient nature.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
